Note. This page is the canonical source of znobia's regulatory status. The summary at /about/regulatory mirrors this page in plainer prose for general visitors; /legal/regulatory-disclosure is the full text with the formal language compliance officers expect.
1. Firm identification
znobia Ltd. Companies House registration: [TBD]. Registered office: [TBD]. ICO registration: [TBD].
2. Authorisation status (as of 23 May 2026)
2.1 Direct FCA authorisation
znobia has submitted an application for direct authorisation as a general insurance intermediary to the Financial Conduct Authority via the FCA Connect portal. Application reference [TBD]. The application is pending determination. The FCA's statutory target is four months for complete applications and ten months as the outer limit for incomplete applications; realistic end-to-end completion for an applicant of znobia's profile is expected to be six to nine months.
2.2 Appointed Representative interim
Pending direct FCA authorisation, znobia is preparing to operate as an Appointed Representative of [Principal Firm], a firm authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN [XXXX]). Under the AR arrangement, the Principal Firm carries regulatory responsibility for znobia's activity within the agreed scope of permission. The Principal Firm's identity, FRN, registered office, and the scope of activity that will be permitted under the AR arrangement will be published on this page on execution of the AR agreement.
2.3 Lloyd's coverholder status
znobia is in the coverholder application process at Lloyd's. The application is sponsored by [TBD broker] and [TBD managing agent], who are running independent due diligence per the Lloyd's coverholder application requirements. ATLAS application reference [TBD]. Pending issuance of the coverholder PIN and the corresponding permission letter, znobia is not permitted to describe itself as a “Coverholder at Lloyd's”, display the Lloyd's name or logo, or imply a market-participant relationship with Lloyd's. znobia will publish its coverholder status, the corresponding brand-asset permission letter, and the named syndicates granting binder authority at the date of approval.
3. Activity permitted at this stage
Pre-FCA authorisation, znobia:
- Cannot conduct regulated activities of insurance mediation under Article 25 of the Regulated Activities Order.
- Cannot accept instructions to place cover.
- Cannot hold client money.
- Cannot solicit, offer, or arrange contracts of insurance.
Pre-FCA authorisation, znobia may:
- Publish editorial commentary on the digital-asset insurance market, consistent with FCA fair-clear-not-misleading standards.
- Engage with prospective clients on a non-soliciting basis, explicitly subject to authorisation.
- Prepare operational architecture, underwriting submissions, and engagement frameworks for execution post-authorisation.
4. Activity permitted under the AR interim
Once the AR arrangement is executed, znobia will be permitted to conduct insurance mediation within the scope of the Principal Firm's permissions and within the scope of the AR agreement. The Principal Firm's FCA permissions and supervisory obligations apply to znobia's activity during the AR period. The exact scope of permitted activity will be published on this page on execution.
5. Activity permitted on direct FCA authorisation
On the issuance of direct FCA authorisation, znobia will be authorised in its own name as a general insurance intermediary, with the specific permissions and the FRN published on this page on the date of authorisation. The AR arrangement will be expected to terminate concurrently or on a short transition.
6. Activity permitted on Lloyd's coverholder approval
On the issuance of the Lloyd's coverholder PIN and the corresponding permission letter, znobia will be permitted to describe itself as a “Coverholder at Lloyd's”, to display the Coverholder at Lloyd's lockup per the Lloyd's Coverholder Brand Guidelines (July 2024 edition), and to bind business on behalf of the named syndicates granting binder authority within the scope of the permission letter.
