1. What cookies are

Cookies are small data files placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website. Some are needed for the site to function; others are optional and only set if you consent.

2. Cookie categories on znobia.com

The cookie consent banner exposes three categories. The categories below match the banner one-to-one.

  • Essential. Session, authentication, CSRF protection. Required for the portal and security functions; set without consent on the lawful basis of PECR Regulation 6(4) strictly-necessary exemption, supported by UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b) contract necessity for the portal session. Cannot be opted out.
  • Analytics. Anonymised, IP-truncated usage telemetry used to improve the site. No cross-site behavioural tracking. Off by default; lawful basis on opt-in is UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) consent. If no Analytics tracker is wired at the time of your visit, this category is dormant — no cookies are set even when the box is ticked.
  • Marketing. Reserved for future marketing measurement. No marketing cookies are currently in use. Off by default; will only activate when (a) a tracker is integrated and (b) you have explicitly opted in. Lawful basis on opt-in is UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) consent.

3. Consent model

The cookie consent banner appears on first visit and on any subsequent visit where (a) more than twelve months have passed since your last decision or (b) the cookie-category schema has materially changed (we increment a version stamp on the consent record when categories change). No checkboxes are pre-ticked; consent must be given by a clear affirmative act. “Accept all”, “Reject all”, and “Customize” controls have equal visual prominence — there are no dark patterns.

Your consent decision is stored client-side in localStorage under the key znobia-cookie-consent. The record carries an ISO-8601 timestamp and a schema version. We do not transmit your consent decision to any server.

4. Do-not-track

We honour the DNT header — when received, Analytics is treated as opted out regardless of the stored consent record.

5. Changing your preferences

You can clear your stored consent by clearing site data in your browser (Privacy / Site settings → Clear data for znobia.com). The banner will reappear on the next visit. A persistent “Cookie preferences” link in the footer is planned for a forthcoming release.
